Back to the Blog...

It has been a long while since I have blogged. I have been struggling with some changes in my life and just became pretty much overwhelmed with them for several months so I had to pull back on the blog. But I figured I had better jump back in or so much will have passed that I won’t have a clue where to start.

First off, the main struggle I have faced is we are moving…yes, again.  It was only 3 years ago when we made our last move and we truly hoped it would be the last one.  Well, not so.  My DH began working for a company based out of Edenton, NC last August and I stayed here in SC for the school year.  Although logically the move was something I understood, somewhere after Christmas I just locked down and got pretty depressed about it.  My boys aren’t happy about the move either, which has made it even harder. Our oldest son is in high school, and a move during high school is so hard.  He truly loves it here and loves his school and, of course, his friends. We have even discussed trying to continue splitting our time between SC and NC until he graduated but that would mean we would have to do it for 3 years (including this current year) and that is a long time not to be together except on weekends.  It would mean DH would have to miss out on everything (pretty much) that the boys are involved in and I would be single parenting 2 boys.  I will say that this move has been the hardest of all of the moves we have made.  I am totally in love with our home and this town and the idea of leaving it all has really been a challenge.  But, I suppose I have finally come to some level of acceptance and am ready to just get it over with
.
Recently we went to our last Phi Mu Parents weekend at Georgia Southern University!  It was really bitter sweet because our daughter is graduating this week!  I have enjoyed so much sharing her sorority time and seeing her enjoy so many of the same things I enjoyed during my college sorority time.  I am so proud of her.  She has already accepted a job in the Atlanta area which is perfect for her and she is ready to move into a cute little apartment at the end of the month.

Also, in other big news... DD got engaged on April 28th to her boyfriend of a year and a half!  They haven’t set a date yet as he is going to be starting Pharmacy School this summer and then they will figure out the timing of the wedding.  I am so happy and will blog about their engagement soon!

So, this mouth is full of bitter sweet things as we have graduations, new jobs, end of school activities and lots of good byes that are going to be so hard to do...not to mention a house on the market (another post as well!) I hope to be blogging semi-regularly in the coming weeks as I have so much to catch up on and lots to share from our little corner of the world.

  1. I'm glad you're back. Your home in Florence was always so beautiful so hopefully it will sell sooner rather than later. I bet it shows really well. If we were still there we would have definitely looked at it, it looks like a nice, Southern home :). Congrats to your daughter for getting engaged and graduating, too.

Good luck with the move. It was not easy for me bc mine was also due to my husband's job so it was about him, not me. I was leaving family, friends, a job, team I coached, etc... he was leaving a job he hated so yeah. But it all worked out, glad to be here now :)

  2. I am sorry to hear that you have been having a hard time. The move must have been so stressful! We live in Raleigh so that is somewhat close to Edenton, which from what I remember, is a beautiful area. Best of luck to you!

  3. OMIGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS on the graduation & engagement!!!!! Those are HUGE & WONDERFUL!!!!! You will have an absolute ball wedding planning with DD!!!! I am so happy for your family. ♥

And you know I know about unwanted moves for the sake of family togetherness, so you know you have my 100% full & understanding support. Embrace mourning what you have to give up & don't feel guilty about it; balance that with excitement over being able to share your boys' lives WITH your DH instead of facing all the trials virtually alone. There will be good that comes, and I'm happy to be a sounding board whenever you need to vent! ♥

  5. God sent me to your blog today! You & I feel the same about moving....I want to remind you that God is in control. He hears and knows your heart! I have lived here for a year and my husband lost his job.(I moved a year ago from Houston.) I closed my Consignment shop in March,in order to get the house ready to put on the market. We still don't have a job but I am praying it will come soon. It is not our timing but God's. He is faithful!
You have a lot to think about with a wedding to plan and graduation!
I am sure God has it all worked out. Just remain in Him and He will get you through! I loved your blog and glad you are back.
I know moving is not an easy task but you will do it with flying colors because that is who God made you to be.
I am sending prayers & hugs to you and yours.
Remember, God is the one who will carry you.
    Blessings My Friend,
