New Year's Notebook

I have some funny little rituals that I really enjoy and one of those would be purchasing my New Year's Notebook! My intention is always to find something that helps me be more organized (in theory at least).

It is like being back in school and knowing that if you find just the right notebook the school year will be better.  I feel that way about my New Year's Notebook. Just having those clean pages makes me motivated to get it together and be more organized and stress free. I know it is the same feeling that I would get as a little girl when I got a new, blank journal...kind of a geeky rush!  It isn't anything expensive or fancy, but it is where I will make my grocery lists, jot down to do lists, random thoughts, projects, and generally keep track of things that don't fit in my calendar.  And if I am lucky, I will still have space in back to got down my Christmas shopping lists for 2011!

Do you have something that helps you make a fresh start and motivates you get organized?

Also, for some other great blog stops, check out:

  2. I love getting my new calendar book in January. There is nothing like seeing all of the empty boxes in the coming year. (Of course, it doesn't take long for me to fill them up.) Carla

  3. I'm still shopping for just the "right" calendar for 2011 Michelle so I know what you're saying. Every year I look at calendars trying to come up with just the perfect one for the new year. It's usually nearly February before I finally have one hanging in the cupboard.

  4. I just put a small, new notebook in my car to use about the same way that you'll use yours. I got mine free from Girls on the Run and it has the cutest cover. Just seeing it on the car seat makes me happy.

  5. I'm rather OCD about this kind of thing. I still use my own version of a daytimer. Mine is a 9X7, 3-ring binder with lots of different categories & a calendar system in the front. I've been using this for years & make up my own page forms including a grocery shopping form. A couple of years ago, I added 2 more notebooks. One is My Little Holiday Book that I blogged about on 10/04/10 & the other is My Fun Stuff book. This latter book is small enough to go in my purse & is where I keep lists & coupons for crafting/sewing, decorating ideas & measurements of items I'm thinking about purchasing (incl. paint & fabric samples), books I want to read (so I have it when I go to the library), etc. See, I told told you OCD! Now I'm finding that my Fun Stuff notebook & my daytimer are overlapping -- not good. I really like your idea of having one notebook that contains it all. It might really help me to be less obsessed with categorizing everything but still be organized. I just may give this a try & will let you know how it's working.

  6. I usually get big wall mommy calendar with tons of stickers and space so I can keep our life somewhat in control and it's also easy for my boys to check every morning what's going on.

  7. It seems like we are all starting out the year trying to get organized. I'm trying with calendars and a notebook sounds like a good idea too.

    I love your blog!

  8. I am one of the most unorganized, procrastinating persons on this planet, maybe a notebook would help.
Thanks for the visit and I am now following you!

  10. I haven't found anything yet, although I'm working on it. One thing that I just read in a get organized magazine article that sounded good - get a 3 ring notebook to put in papers, phone numbers, school papers, and such that you need on a regular basis. Sounded good to me, so next time I'm out an about I plan to get a decorative binder that won't look out of place sitting out.

I've also am going to try better to answer emails and invites immediately. Then put them on my calendar. This way, I can clear them out immediately.

Your notebook idea sound good. Whatever works for you and motivates you:)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you get back on the saddle with your scrapbooking (and there are lots of great time savers now).

  17. We have a dry erase board at my house. My husband and I hold a meeting every Sunday evening and go over the schedule. Then we assign our duties for the week. My husband is extremely organized; me, not so much. He works in development/operations so he's use to keeping people on track. However, I put my foot down when it comes to pie charts. :)

Happy New Year!!! Wishing you a very blessed 2011.
