I have often prided myself on my hate of Walmart…give me a Target and I was happy…send me to Walmart and my teeth ached. My experience with Walmart over the years caused me to avoid, at all cost (which yes, generally meant paying more), their stores. The messy, clogged, over-stocked isles, paired with their less than inspired style selections and the long check out lines made me just choose to shop elsewhere. Yes, I know they were the best $ deal going but the hassle of going wasn’t worth the value. Oh, I would go in for things that I just had to get there but over all I avoided them.
Fast forward to the new and improved Walmart! I now have easy access to 2 new Walmart stores and amazingly enough… I love going! It seems the powers that be at Walmart figured out how to improve the shopping experience and still offer great $ deals! The new stores are open and clean and there is an eye for easy and appealing display as opposed to the Walmart of yester-year with loads of merchandise overwhelming the shopper as they walked through. The isles are more open and the layout of the store is more enticing. I swear I think the employees are even happier and more helpful (but I could just be projecting there!). I am completely taken by surprise at my new love of Walmart! Who would have imagined? I especially like their house wares department. The buyers at Walmart have also just recently added a new line of products from Better Homes & Gardens with are gorgeous and so, so reasonably priced.
These beautiful dishes are only $33.96 for a 16 piece set! They also have some pretty gorgeous fall leaf dishes and bowls that I would love, love, love to have for Thanksgiving. I don’t know if Walmart kidnapped some of the buyers from other organizations or they just received divine inspiration but either way I am loving it!
Not sure how I found your blog but have been reading for awhile. Although I don't live in GA anymore it will forever be home to me. I agree about the "new" wal-mart, I always felt the same as you but we have a new one that opened near us as well and just in time with the way the economy is! Have you tried any of their candles? I bought the pumpkin spice and they smell just as good or better than the fancy ones! I also found some great fall ribbon in the seasonal area. I will be looking for those dishes on my next trip! Hope you will stop by and visit my blog!
ReplyDeleteOh my those are pretty dishes. I too stay away from WM. I have noticed thier new ads on TV about the Better Homes and Gardens. I may have to go check them out. Nancy
ReplyDeleteThey're building a new Walmart near my house that's supposed to a new design. It has a stone entryway and looks very nice, plus it's close to an upscale neighborhood. I'm hoping it's nice inside, too, because I've also started to hate shopping there. Here's hoping!
ReplyDeleteCocoa- I did buy some of the mulled cider candles and really liked them. One thing I especially like is that you can cleanly peel the labels off which leaves a much better looking "jar" if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteI may have to give them a "second chance"!
ReplyDeleteYes, I noticed, too! I was just in yesterday after avoiding it for some time since they were remodeling. I was so amazed at the transformation, and was thinking of blogging about it myself! And I even noticed that now they carry the Martha line of scrapbooking/crafts things! Together with the BH&G things, they've made a great comeback. And that Canopy line of things is very nice, too!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about Wal Mart. I was hating it for years and would avoid going there at all cost. We now have two Super Wal Marts in my town. After hearing everyone talk about it I decided to try it out. It's clean, pretty, and has awesome prices. After years of being a faithful Target shopper, I am amazed how much I like Target. Happy to be saving $$ too.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only person that hated to go to Wal-Mart. I avoid it at all costs. Target has been my place to shop.
ReplyDeleteI hope we get a new Wal-Mart like yours. Sounds too good to be true!
Love your blog,
Beverly
