Have you ever seen Georgia red clay? That is the dirt of my youth. I remember the 1st time I moved away from Georgia I was surprised that the dirt there was...well...brown. As a Mom, I have learned how the red clay of Georgia can leave a lasting mark on clothing that little people like to wear; as a Southerner, I have learned how the red clay of Georgia can leave a lasting mark on one's heart.
Hi! Thanks for visiting me today. You must be somewhere in Georgia.
ReplyDeleteI know that red clay well!
I am a Georgia girl born and raised. Love this post. Yeah, unless you are from Georgia I don't think you'd understand. But it has stained my heart too. I live in Florida now and I love the sand but I miss the red clay.
ReplyDeleteI always smile when I run across a little bit of red clay some place unexpected :)
ReplyDeleteonce a Georgia Girl...
I'm a Georgia girl too, although I live in Florida now. I sooooo know all about the Georgia red clay and how it can stain things.

That red clay brings back so many wonderful memories for me. I have never heard anyone else mention it out of fondness before and now I'm getting sappy. Can't wait to dig my heals in that red clay soon.
