It maybe time...we have lived in this house longer than any of the other 5 homes we have owned since we got married.
This afternoon when the children and I got home from the mall (hey, it was a 126 degrees with 700% humidity...the mall was the place to be!) our dog was barking her big head off. She was in the back where we have a fence around a small portion of the back yard and our back patio just for her. When I looked over the deck to see what on earth she was barking at there was a huge - 5 or 6 foot black snake coiled in the corner of the patio striking at my dog! Now that I think about it, maybe it was more like 8 or even 10 feet long.
Don't give my any of that "black snakes are good snakes" hoopla...nope, not around here. And this isn't the 1st snake I have had to contend with...there were those 2 last fall right outside the garage. I think it might just be time to move.
Hubby always gives me the same "black snakes are a good thing" spill. He hasn't convinced me yet and never will. I'm with you girl, "For Sale" sounds like a good thing. LOL! We had a black snake problem last year in the chicken lot and that's why we no longer have chickens. :(
ReplyDeleteoh my word...
ReplyDeleteplezzz tell me you posted this from the nearby Starbucks where you, family & dog family members are happily enjoying lattes while the realtor shows people your home...
UGH!!! Two days after my birthday last fall we had a YUK by our backdoor! I am terrified of them and had to take Xanex for anxiety for 3 months in order to go sleep! I would be putting out a forsale if I seen that many! Why do people say there good ones? Are they crazy...they all are worthlesss to me, lock, stock and barrell, worthless! I am always on the look out now when I garden and hate to have to be so scared!!Take care!! Lori
ReplyDeleteI think I would have to move too. Hate snakes..how scary.
ReplyDeleteI am rather fond of snakes- but I am fond of them...outside of my space. :-) My grandfather use to catch them when I was a little girl on his farm and teach us about the different varieties. Then, as an adult we had a dog bit by a copperhead snake, and she had to contend with pain in her leg for years. I suppose I never liked them much after that...
ReplyDeleteHate snakes and that one would scare me to death...I don't care if they are "a good thing"! But as much as I too would want to sell, you can't sell that beautiful home of yours!! :D
ReplyDeleteOh I hate snakes too and there is no such thing as a good snake. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteSo far no more snakes but....
ReplyDeleteMan that house is so beautiful. Think of it this way, the snakes keep the mice and rats away......
ReplyDeleteJess
I'd be packing up the house right away! And you're right, don't give me any of that "Black snakes are good snakes!" In my opinion, the only good snake is a dead snake, or far, far away from me!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I think I have to agree with you! Move....
ReplyDelete'Miss' Mari-Nanci
OK...y'all aren't going to believe this...another snake -- ON the front porch!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteUmmmmmmmmmm...I dont mind snakes but having them take up residence around the porch would put me off a little too!
ReplyDeleteLove the new top picture- just gorgeous! Take care dear one!
Ok Belle, what kind of snakes are they? I think that's important, if it's rattlers I'd be worried but really if they are not poisonous, can you get used to them? They ARE good for the environment and the ecosystem. Keeps things in balance.....are you sure you can't live with them?
