I do!
Today was a milestone day...I went with DD to order her High School Class ring. Yes...I am bit emotional about the reality of that one! Oh, I know this is just one of many moments leading up to that final day when someone [officially] says to my sweet little girl..."you are a grown up" -well, sort of, right?
I do have mine and it is right here resting on my monitor stand. I got it out last school year when we ordered DDs class ring. We got a postcard in the mail Saturday that her class ring will be delivered to her at school next Tuesday. She is so excited!! At least she is a junior and that is when we got ours. At DD2 school, they actually order them in 3 weeks and she is a soph!! Too early in my opinion. It is exciting but bittersweet that our girls are growing up so fast!!
ReplyDeleteYes, we do have ours....mine was very different and dh's is typical. I guess we'll be buying our Dd's pretty soon, too!
ReplyDeleteah milestones...when the kids get in high school, especially junior and senior year, you can hardly recover from one big event before another one comes along. It's truly bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get one. My mother went to the same HS as me and her class ring is dated exactly 30 years earlier than when I graduated. I didn't want one and just wore hers at times. I still have it.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I still have mine...I've been through that class ring thing with one of my sons, bought him a nice ring and he never wears it...oh well, I did the same thing...lol Nancy
ReplyDeleteI not only still have my high school ring - I also have my high school boyfriend's school ring! I tried to give it back when we broke up before college but he wouldn't take it. I think I might bring it to our 20th reunion to finally give it back!
ReplyDeleteFun. I have mine and dh's as well. I used corn pads inside his to wear it but I remember people using wax. Too funny. I hope your daughter enjoys hers.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
What an exciting time in your life! I remember when we orderd my daughter's, not only was I in sticker shock, but I was in denial that she was growing up! LOL
ReplyDeleteI still have my Sr. Ring all tucked away in my jewelry box. I also have my dad's from 1957.
How neat! I do have DH's and was wearing it for fun last week to show my DD how you used to wear the boyfriend's class ring. I never got a classring but I did wear my mother's college ring. I thought I was so cool!
ReplyDeleteI do still have my HS ring. They were a HUGE deal at my HS and were ordered at the start of Jr year I think. (I'm not Catholic but my school clearly was) Then there was a special Mass that families attended too and our rings were blessed by...someone...I forget....Arch Bishop I think. Hands down one of my most special HS memories.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like I went a school similar to Preppy Pink Crocodile's! I went to the same all-girls school as my grandmother, and the ring is very special to me.
ReplyDeleteI still have mine too. I am a ways from my daughter getting hers but I am sure it was emotional for you. Exciting, too.
ReplyDeleteMy class ring was stolen when my apt was robbed while I lived in the big city after college. It was give to me by my father's cousin's wife who had also graduated from the same very small girl's school. I still think about it and half heartedly search for it when I am in antique stores, etc. It was a very unusual crest type ring. Maybe one day I will stumble upon it!
ReplyDeleteyes, mine is gold and has my school's crest on it - i went to boarding school and we didn't have stones in ours. do i wear it? nope, don't wear gold anymore! i have it as a keepsake!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no, I don't have mine. I had what I thought was the most beautiful class ring. I bought it at the end of my junior year, it was white gold, with a sunburst pink stone. No matter what angle you looked at it, it had hundreds of beautiful colors sparkling! Everyone else had solid color stones, some smooth some with ridges, but mine was that pink with the suburst when the light hit the ridges, it was unique! Just before I went into the military in 1987, I moved back to Miami to live with my aunt and uncle before I went to boot camp. I took the ring off to swim in the built in pool in our townhouse development and when I got out an hour later it was gone. Never found it again. So sad, I could never replace it.
ReplyDeleteI do still have mine. It is a bitter sweet moment I bet. I can't believe how fast they grow up. We started 1st and 4th grade this year, sad...
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I both still have ours!
ReplyDeleteOur oldest graduated last year (2007) so I know what you're feeling!
Blessings,
Julie
